The lodges and the surrounding area are perfect for Autumn and Winter breaks . The south West Coast is blessed with a much milder climate than the rest of the country in the Autumn and Winter months ( surfers can still be seen at Hartland , Bude and Widemouth Bay in December ; this could alternatively be regarded as a form of madness ! ) .
The lodges are insulated to a degree which keeps them beautifully warm in even the coldest weather which means that we can recommend and promote holidays all year round .
Most of the inns in the area are many hundreds of years old and really come into their own when the open fires are burning - particularly The Hoops , The Bush and The Old Smithy .
